Thompsons Goes Officially 'Green'!
As many of our customers are aware, we have always been green but we have now been nationally recognised for being green and not just for our company colours! We have just been awarded the Confex national 'Green Wholesaler of the Year' award! The award shows our dedication as a company to reduce any impact we have on our environment. The award was judged by a panel of independent environmental consultants. The first stage was submitting a detailed application pack, followed by a site visit and then a consultation by the judging panel and Ryan on hand to answer all the questions they had.
Some of the things we are currently doing to become Greener and more sustainable as a company:
- We have 200 Solar Panels on our roof producing 85,000 kw of energy each year,
- We have an on-site cardboard compactor to bale all used paper and cardboard and send to a paper mill to be recycled.
- All waste metals from aluminium cans, drinks cans, copper pipe and wire are recycled and taken directly to our local scrap yard.
- Waste cooking Oil is collected from customers and sent away and refined into Biofuel.
- All our freezers and fridges have been upgraded to incorporate the latest energy efficient technology and insulation.
- LED and sensor lighting has been installed throughout our building.
